Case study: Establishing catagories for efficiently procuring vihecles in the region of Kronoberg
With 5700 employees in the organization and an average haulage per year of 2 587 335 km, there are a great potential for CO2 emissions savings. The standard vehicles today are fossil fuelled and not procured with any criteria’s for energy efficiency or renewable energy. As the organization has got a lot of different needs, the solution was to define different categories of vehicles, and divide the procurement after these categories. The different levels of requirements and criteria should be employed in order to get the best vehicle in each category from an energy and climate point of view.
Since the tenders could be submitted separately there was a more widespread competition, and more suppliers could attend to the procurement, says Christel Liljegren, The Energy Agency for Southeast Sweden,.
The result for the first year shows that the CO2 reductions amounts to 42 tonnes. The demand for renewable fuel has also increased, which will make it possible to establish more filling stations.
